What are the signs & symptoms?

Symptoms of Hand Foot & Mouth - runny nose

Normally hand, foot & mouth symptoms appears in two stages as listed below:

In the initial stages there are flu like symptoms and your child may have:

• A fever

• A sore throat

• Stomach ache

• Loss of appetite

• Runny nose

The second stage (which is normally a few days into the illness) the initial symptoms commonly go away and new symptoms will appear which may include:

• Swollen lymph nodes in the neck

• Blistery painful sores around the mouth and on the tongue

• An itchy and sometimes very painful rash on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, elbows, knees, buttocks or genitals

Following is a list of remedies along with keynotes, that I’ve found to be beneficial to help children through this uncomfortable and contagious illness

Homeopathic Remedy Aconite

• Often given at the very beginning of the illness just as the fever & sore throat is kicking in

• The child will have a fever and be very fearful of dying

• Worse around midnight - the child wakes full of fear & fright

Homeopathic Remedy Chamomilla

• The child needing this remedy will be very angry & restless

• The pain from the emerging Hand, Foot & Mouth outbreak is VERY painful and itchy - but more so painful than anything else

• They want the pain to go IMMEDIATELY and cannot tolerate it for a moment

• There may not even be an outbreak yet - or the places where it is breaking out are not obvious, but the child will say it is very painful & they will scream and want immediate relief

Homeopathic Remedy Urtica Urens

• The pains will be stinging & burning

• There is violent itching with constant desire for rubbing (they may want their feet or hands rubbed or rub them together)

• Much worse from heat or hot bathing,  worse from exertion, worse from rising after laying down

• There may be swelling with the itching
